The Kyrgyz State Medical Academy named after I.K. Akhunbaev (KSMA) actively cooperates with the German foundation Senior Expert Service (SES), implementing joint educational projects aimed at developing the professional competencies of the faculty and improving the quality of medical education.
The Senior Expert Service (SES) is the Foundation of German Industry for International Cooperation, operating worldwide. The SES implements projects in developing countries, emerging economies, and Germany, providing expert support in various fields.
The professional knowledge and long-term experience of SES experts are in demand by small and medium-sized enterprises, state and municipal institutions, professional associations, medical and social organizations, as well as educational institutions.
The core principle of the SES is capacity building through the transfer of practical knowledge and experience ("help for self-help"). These projects contribute to the long-term improvement of educational quality, professional skills development, and the strengthening of international cooperation.
The first joint project between KSMA and the SES was approved in 2019. However, its implementation was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and took place in the fall of 2021.
As part of the project, KSMA was visited by Dr. Christian Guksch, a PhD expert in medical education and an instructor of Medical English. During his visit, he conducted training seminars and consultations for the faculty, aimed at enhancing the educational process, developing pedagogical competencies, and improving the quality of medical training.

Fifteen lecturers and postgraduate students completed the training. Additionally, consultations were held on professional development opportunities in European countries, particularly Germany, and on pursuing education through German government funds and grants.

Following the successful completion of the first project, the cooperation between KSMA and the SES became regular. Every year, the Academy is visited by the foundation's experts, who conduct educational, advisory, and methodological work at various departments.
Within the framework of SES programs, leading German experts are regularly invited to KSMA to work directly at specialized departments, deliver lectures, hold master classes and practical sessions, advise lecturers and physicians, and participate in improving the educational process.
The implementation of these projects contributes to the introduction of modern international educational approaches, professional development of the faculty, growth of clinical competencies, and strengthening of the international reputation of the Kyrgyz State Medical Academy.
