Brief history

In November 1941, in period of the evacuation of Kharkiv Medical Institute to Kyrgyzstan, the Department of Nervous Diseases was established. Professors G. D. Leshchenko (1941-1945), B. S. Beilin (1945-1958) and A. F. Usmanov (1958 – 1969) organized and headed the Department and made a huge contribution to the development of modern neurological school.

From 1970 to 2016 the head of the Department was academician of NAS KR, doctor of medical Sciences Professor A. M. Murzaliev. Under his leadership scientific directions such as clinical and physiological research, neuroinfections, medical genetics, autoimmune problems in neurology, liquorodynamic of brain tumors were developed.

From 2017 to the present time the Department is headed by Ph. D. Mamytova E. M.

Scientific activity

The main directions of scientific research of the Department:

  • Comparative evaluation of clinical, laboratory and neuroimaging data in the diagnosis of hemorrhagic stroke (researchers: Muraliev A. M., E. K. Joldoshev)
  • Improvement of therapeutic approaches in migraine in women of reproductive age (researchers: Muraliev A. M., K. Z. Karbozova)
  • Neurosyphilis – modern aspects of pathogenesis, clinic, improving treatment in Kyrgyzstan (researchers: Baltabayev M. K., Muraliev A. M., K. E. Dyikanbaeva)
  • Clinical and diagnostic characteristics of strokes in young people in the Kyrgyz Republic (researchers: Kulov B. B., Abirova A. B.)
Scientific achievements

Taking into account the high increase in mortality from cardiovascular diseases, scientists A. M. Murzaliev, M. Mamytov, CH. T. Toktomushev, K. T. Mendibaev introduced a State Program for the prevention and treatment of strokes. The Program was awarded the State Prize in 2011.
