In connection with the beginning of the Second World War Kharkiv Medical Institute was evacuated to Frunze and from December 1941 associate Professor P. L. Shupik organized and led the course of urology in the Department of faculty surgery with 10 urological beds.

From 1944 to 1946, the docent course in urology was conducted by M. B. Medvedev, archival data of the personal file which unfortunately have not been preserved.

From April 23, 1947 to October 1969 the course was led by Valentin Viktorovich Tomashevich. The first Urological Department for 40 beds was organized in 1957 in the Kyrgyz research Institute of Oncology and radiology, and was headed by Irina V. Shubladze with the function of General Urology. On September 15, 1962 by Order of the Ministry of health it was transferred to the Republican clinical hospital of Frunze for 50 beds, and from 1963 to 60 beds and there was transferred to the docent course in urology and faculty surgery, which at that time was the only head institution of the Republic.

On April 13, 1963 was organized the Kyrgyz Republican Scientific Society of Urologists consisting of 11 people .

Department of urology of KSMI organized in August 1976 with the appointment of head of the Department of Professor V. F. Khomenko. From October, 1977 an associate Professor O. A. Abdyldaev headed the Department. From October 1977 to 1986 the haed was Professor E. P. Yeganov and from June 1986 to 2001 was Professor M. T. Tynaliev.

Then, from 2001 to the present the Head of the Department is Professor Akylbek Usupbaev.

In 2003, on the basis of National Hospital the Ministry of health established the Scientific Center of Urology and Andrology of the same Department of KSMA.

13 November 2008 the Department of Urology and Andrology was given the name of Professor Medin Tynaliev.
