March 28, 2025 – The Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic, the United Nations World Food Programme (UN WFP), I.K. Akhunbaev Kyrgyz State Medical Academy (KSMA), the Institute of Sectoral Nutrition, the Insan-Leilek Foundation, and experts in health and nutrition are joining forces to improve the nutrition and hygiene systems in schools and kindergartens across the country.
A working meeting was held at the Medical Academy, bringing together representatives from the Departments of Pediatrics and Hygiene of KSMA, the Ministry of Education, UN WFP, and other specialists. The main focus was on improving nutrition in educational institutions, enhancing hygiene among children, and conducting research in this field.
One of the key areas of work will be updating the School Recipe Book and developing a Recipe Book for preschool institutions and schools. Specialists from the Department of Pediatrics will actively participate in creating methodological recommendations and analyzing modern approaches to child nutrition.
The meeting also emphasized the need to create educational materials on nutrition, hygiene, and sanitation. These materials aim to increase awareness among schoolchildren and educators, fostering a culture of healthy living from an early age.
Another significant step will be a two-year study on the state of nutrition, hygiene, and sanitation in 40 schools across Kyrgyzstan. The data collected will help develop effective strategies to improve children’s health and create comfortable conditions in educational institutions.
Participants highlighted that collaboration between medical experts, educational institutions, and international organizations plays a key role in shaping a healthy future for the younger generation. Joint efforts will help achieve significant results, making the school nutrition system more balanced and sanitary conditions safer for children.
