On March 27, 2019, the I. K. Akhunbaev Medical Academy of Kyrgyzstan hosted for the first time an Olympiad in family medicine dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the university with the participation of 10 student teams. It was opened with a welcoming speech by the Vice-rector of KSMA for Scientific and Medical work, Professor Andrey Sopuev.

Students competed in a blitz survey, situational tasks, practical skills, and homework. As a result, the first place was taken by the team called "Breaking Bad", the second place went to the team "VOPinators", the third place – "Murasu". The winners were awarded prizes by the sponsor of the Olympiad "Initiative in Medical Education", as well as letters of thanks and certificates. They were warmly congratulated by the rector of the university, Professor Indira Kudaibergenova.

The educational event was organized by the Department of Family Medicine of Pre-graduate Education, the Department of Family Medicine of Postgraduate Education, the scientific Society of Young Scientists and Students, the Student Council of KSMA.
