General Information
Higher professional medical education in Kyrgyzstan is a tertiary education, training doctors and pharmacists in programs of undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Undergraduate education involves 5-6 years of training in the areas of "General Medicine", "Pediatrics", "Dentistry", "Medical and Preventive Care", "Pharmacy" and "Higher nursing education".
Postgraduate education involves 2-3 years of training in residency programs in various areas.

! When entering the Russian or English training, the applicant must already know the appropriate language.

- Admission to the KSMA is made upon the application of the applicant.
- Applicant should submit the following documents along with the application:
- Certificates of 10th grade and 12th grade secondary school education;
- Notarized translation of the secondary school certificates into Russian language;
- 2 photos (4x6), 4 photos(3x4);
- Copy of passport and KG visa;
- Payment confirmation for Documents Admission;
- Medical Examination Certificate with HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis B/C, Malaria results;
- Copy of Mandatory Health Insurance Policy.

Regulations on the order of admission and training of foreign citizens
- Persons with secondary General and secondary vocational education are admitted to the first year of KSMA
- Admission and training of foreign students is carried out on the basis of international treaties to which the Kyrgyz Republic is a party, as well as on the basis of agreements between educational organizations or with individual citizens
- Foreign applicants can apply for a state grant under the relevant international agreements between Kyrgyzstan and the state of the foreign applicant (Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan)
- Admission of foreign students is conducted by the Admission Committee of KSMA
- Applicants and their parents/guardians have the right to get acquainted with the Charter of KSMA (link), its licenses (link) and certificates (link), rules of admission to KSMA and other necessary information related to admission.
- All necessary information materials for applicants are placed in the lobby of the main building of KSMA, as well as on the official website.
- Foreign applicants who have graduated from high school in Kyrgyzstan can participate in the competition for admission on the basis of ORT, as well as on the basis of the results of entrance tests conducted by KSMA independently.
- Foreign applicants coming to KSMA from states that do not have interstate agreements with the Kyrgyz Republic must submit to the Selection Committee a document on education equivalent to the state document on secondary general education (certificate) of the Kyrgyz Republic. Examination of documents of foreign citizens is carried out by the Ministry of education and science of the Kyrgyz Republic before admission to KSMA.
- Applicants who have provided knowingly false documents to the Selection Committee of KSMA, are responsible under the legislation of the Kyrgyz Republic
About entrance tests
- Entrance exams for foreign students entering the KSMA for the study programs in Russian are conducted in the form of a blank test in chemistry, biology, Russian language with computer processing of the results. Knowledge of applicants is evaluated on a scale where the maximum result is 180 points. Foreign students must score on the main subject – 90 points, non-profiled subject – 60, in the Russian language – 30 (for specialties "General Medicine", "Pediatrics", "Medical and preventive care", "Dentistry", "Nursing" main subject – biology; for specialty "Pharmacy" - chemistry).
- Entrance exams to KSMA for foreign students entering the training in English are conducted in the form of a blank test in chemistry and biology with computer processing of the results. - A foreign applicant must receive a minimum threshold score of 60% of the maximum possible to participate in the competition and not have any unsatisfactory evaluation.
- During the entrance examinations, applicants are prohibited:
Ø to bring and use textbooks, notebooks, records, mobile phones, electronic notebooks and other storage facilities;
Ø to speak or move without permission;
Ø to exchange test forms, records.
!!! In case of violation of the above requirements, the applicant may be disqualified.
- During the entrance examinations the applicant must present an examination sheet and passport.
- Results of entrance tests are published no later than 10 o'clock in the morning of the next day after carrying out tests.
About the appeal
- Foreign applicants have the right to apply for an appeal on the day of the announcement of the results of the blanks before 14:00 hours.
- Consideration of the appeal does not provide for re-delivery of the blanks. During the appeal, only the correctness of the evaluation of the results of the entrance test is checked.
- The applicant has the right to be present at the appeal and get acquainted with their work. If the applicant is a minor, one of the parents/guardians may be present next to him / her.
- After consideration of the appeal the decision of the Appeal Commission on an assessment on the entrance test is taken out. The decision is made by the Protocol and brought to the attention of the applicant under the signature.
About enrollment
- Enrollment of students is made only in the presence of the original document on education or its duplicate and when paying 50% of the tuition fee for one year of study.

International students arriving to the Kyrgyz Republic for the purpose of admission in KSMA, it is recommended to check in advance, visa and visa-free regime in the Kyrgyz Republic and to take care on the timely receipt of a visa before the entrance examination.
Students from these countries are exempt from obtaining a visa to the Kyrgyz Republic. Applicants are strongly encouraged to cross the border of the Kyrgyz Republic with a foreign passport. Within 5 days after arrival in the Kyrgyz Republic, foreign applicants are required to register in accordance with the established procedure at the actual place of residence. Students from these countries can cross the border of the Kyrgyz Republic only in the presence of a student visa type S. To obtain a visa, foreign applicants are advised to contact the Department of international relations of KSMA and get the necessary advice. Students from far-abroad countries are required to issue Student Visa type "S" and register upon arrival in the Kyrgyz Republic.
International students, except those coming from CIS and some visa-free countries, need to obtain a Study Visa of type “S”.
Students, arriving from far-abroad visa-free countires (i.e. EU counries, USA, Turkey, Australia and etc.) can primarily enter the Kyrgyz Republic without visa, but are obliged to obtain "Study" Visa before the visa-free period expires. For example, students coming from EU countries are free to enter and stay in Kyrgyzstan for the priod of 60-90 days. So, they have to apply for "Study" Visa before these 60-90 days expires. International students arriving to KSMA should note that “Study" Visa doesn’t allow them to have a full-time, even part-time job. So, working illegally with a “Study” visa may turn out into an administrative offense, penalty and even deportation.
KSMA Visa Office assists international students in applying for and receiving a visa. KSMA Visa Office is located at the KSMA Main Campus, 1st floor, 109 room.
Students, applying to KSMA, should receive a primary "Study" visa. For that, they or their official representatives have to submit to KSMA Visa Department the following documents:
- Valid passport for at least one year
- Recent digital photo on white background, size 3*4 sm
- Official invitation letter from KSMA

Please remember that the processing of an invitation letter to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs may take from two to three weeks. Use the received invitation letter number when applying for a visa.
Visa prolongation
Primary entry visa is given for 3 months only, after that you have to apply for visa prolongation. You need to submit the following documents to KSMA Visa Department:
- Valid Passport for at least one year;
- 1 copy of the contract between KSMA and you;
- Student Enrollment Verification, obtained at KSMA Students Service Center (Academic Building No.4, 1st Entrance, 1 floor;
- 2 digital photos in non-white clothes on a white background, sizes 3x4 cm;
- Certificate of residence, which must be obtained from the hostel manager;
OR if you live in a rented apartment/house, provide the following documents:
- Notarised consent from the landlord for the temporary registration at the place of residence;
Your visa will be extended for up to 1 year. Please, be aware to file for visa prolongation 30 days before visa expiration.

Registration of foreign citizens arriving to study at the I.K.Akhunbayev KSMA is carried out in accordance with the "PROCEDURE for registration of foreign citizens and stateless persons in the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic", approved by the Resolution Government of the Kyrgyz Republic No. 689 dated December 19, 2016
After entering the territory of Kyrgyzstan, all foreign citizens, including international students, should be registered in the State Migration Department within 5 days after arrival date.
Visa countries: Registration of KSMA international students is valid for the duration of their Study visa duration, with the right to extend this registration for the duration of the extended visa. The extension of the validity period of registration of international students is carried out after the extension of the validity period of the visa. At the same time, an international students must apply to the KSMA Visa Department within 3 working days from the date of visa extension.
Visa-free countires: For those international students, coming from far-abroad visa-free countries, registation is also required. Registration for a such international students is valid for the period of their "Study" visa (Please, refer to the "Obtaining Visa" section for detailed information).
For registration, international students should come to KSMA Visa Department and submit the following documents:
- the certificate of a residence in the hostel, issued by the KLSMA Hostel Manager. If students live outside the hostel, registration of students is carried out on the general basis of registration of foreign citizens or stateless persons;
- a power of attorney for the right to file a petition on behalf of a legal entity or individual, in the case of a representative's request;
- valid passport or other identification document, unless otherwise provided by international treaties that have entered into force in accordance with the procedure established by law, to which the Kyrgyz Republic is a party with a valid relevant visa;
- receipt of payment of the state fee for registration.
The submitted documents specified in this paragraph are scanned for introduction into the Electronic Regisration System, the originals of the documents are subject to return to the applicant. International students are recommended not to miss the deadline as this will result in a fine and protocol.
After receiving your visa and registration make sure you have made the photocopy and hardcopy of them in case you lose the original ones.
